How to Be Creative:
Tips for Every Crafter
I dislike hearing people say they are not creative. Practically everyday at Scrap'n Nook someone utters that they wish there were as creative as us. Well I am here to tell you, you are! Yes, there are those people who are born with creative genius. The rest of us have to cultivate our creativity. Just like learning to play an instrument you can learn to be creative.

It is my belief that anyone can be creative. Creativity starts by learning techniques. Once you have mastered a few techniques you can start combining those techniques. As you add more knowledge and techniques to your mental database you are cultivating creativity. We all have creativity within us we just have to unlock our potential by learning, practicing, and combining.

Learning
Techniques can be learned by trail and error, idea books, online instructions, or at your local craft stores. There are numerous web sites, including this one, that have technique instructions and videos. You can also take advantage of online chat rooms to ask for advice and help.

Practice
To be good at something you have to practice. There will always be a learning curve when applying new techniques to your projects. Give yourself a chance to master a technique before giving up on the technique. if you are frustrated set the project aside and come back to it later when you are relaxed and refreshed.

Combining
You have already mastered combining if you have ever created anything at all! Just keep building your skills and as you become more advanced and your build your knowledge of techniques you can start to combine techniques.

Now put these tips into practice and see what happens. You will amaze yourself and as your confidence grows so will your creative abilities.
